Shaun Wright-Phillips is walking a very thin line with the City supporters. Hailed as a hero on his return from Chelsea last season, his current contract situation could end with the blues fans turning on the diminutive winger.
In 2005, SWP left the club to join Chelsea in a £21m deal which angered loyal blues supporters, [...]

With the latest ignominy of losing to out-of-form, relegation candidates Wigan Athletic, Liverpool now stand not only on the precipice of being ousted from their perennial Champions League spot but a malaise that threatens to last a generation.
The troubles at Anfield run right the way through the club and show no sign of abating. With [...]

Post from Over The Blue Moon

City will travel to Sunderland on Sunday knowing a slip in the North East will give Spurs the edge in the race for fourth place.
The blues recorded a superb win at Chelsea last time out and should be confident of securing another three points at the Stadium of Light. But City need to be aware [...]

Depending on who you are, you blame somebody different for the Terrygate affair.
Most people blame John Terry, who, oblivious to his role as captain and devoid of loyalty to his team-mate, jumped into bed with Vanessa Perroncel without a moments thought for his ex-friend, Wayne Bridge.
Some of the more perceptive have pointed out that it [...]

Feel you, Roman. Had the same face afterward.
There will be those who call it poetic justice? But then, what about the pro-Foucault crowd?
No complaints. A pedestrian second-half display. Are we becoming the Arsenal? Speaking of which, does anyone out there with a love of statistics care to figure out how many goals we’ve conceded with [...]

Is Roberto Mancini the right manager for Manchester City FC and can he get us there?
In terms of stability I’d say yes he is the right manager and lets face it, we have seen our share of managers over the last thirty odd years now have we not.
I also believe he can get us into the Champions League with the squad we have, I believe if we fail it is on the heads of under

I really wish Stoke would be relegated. Not because of the way they play, just because I am sick of the sight of them and the players must be too.
But I’m amazed that, given the problems that we had against them in the FA Cup tie that we weren’t more on the ball for the league game on Tuesday. At times, we were like a newly promoted side

City and Liverpool played out a dour goalless draw at Eastlands and the result has allowed Spurs to steal in and take fourth place in the Premier League this evening.

Dire game between Champions League rivals
Post from Football Rants

Manchester City’s home tie against Liverpool had the potential to be an absolute classic, unfortunately – it was not.
Neither side managed to carve out any real opportunities. The first half was slightly better than the second, with Steven Gerrard in terrific form in the opening stages although he couldn’t quite carve out a decent chance for himself or a team mate.
The best chance of the opening stages fell to Martin Skrtel. The Liverpool defender headed just wide from a corner as the half drew to a close. However, it was a corner Liverpool should not have won as the ball went out of play off a red shirt. City keeper Shay Given was livid the visitors had been awarded a corner – and he would have been even more upset had Skrtel opened the scoring.
The game really fell to pieces in the second half and turned into one of the most abysmal contests I’ve ever witnessed. Passes were going astray, no real chances were created and neither side ever really looked capable of winning the game.
On a positive note Liverpool star Fernando Torres made a cameo appearance towards the end of the game as he replaced Ryan Babel. Rafael Benitez will need the Spaniard to regain his fitness if Liverpool are to compete for a Champions League place but his only real contribution at Eastlands was to pick up a yellow card. City boss Roberto Mancini introduced Craig Bellamy with 20 minutes left, dispelling rumours he had been told not to come back for three months after an alleged bust up.
City were perhaps unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty in the dying stages as Daniel Agger appeared to push Emmanuel Adebayor. In truth it would have been lukcy for either of these two to have picked up three points after such poor performances.
The likes of Aston Villa, Spurs and even Everton will fancy their chances of nicking fourth off Manchester City and Liverpool after their tie today – for both sides sake I hope it was just a poor day at the office.
