Coventry City 1-0 Nottingham Forest: has the bubble burst?

So much to report upon…
As we already know, Forest didn’t sign anyone in the transfer window (Just Got Back has expressed this far more eloquently than I could, before reporting on last night’s match against Coventry), and Billy had a rant about the lack of signings, especially the failure to tie up Raddy “Radi” Majewski. [...]

Issue 114 – 08 February 2010

County make it fantastic five… five wins and five clean sheets!
Notts County made it six consecutive away wins and four straight clean sheets in all competition as they battled to a 1-0 victory at struggling Grimsby Town on Saturday. Fresh from a stunning 2-0 win at Premiership side Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup, Notts [...]

Nottingham Forest 2 – 1 Sheffield Wednesday: match report and podcast

After last week’s setback (and its subsequent fallout), we finally get back in action in front of nearly 4000 Wednesday fans.
A couple of changes see us line up in a 4-4-2:

Campo
Gunter, Morgan, Wilson, Perchio
Cohen, McKenna, Moooooooooose, Tyson
Blackstock, Earnshaw

This saw Tyson replace Anderson on the left (probably giving Ando a rest) and Moooooose [...]

Barnsley 1-2 Sheffield Wednesday, a disappointing effort.

Losing to Wednesday is never nice, but this felt particularly hard. Why is easy to say. We played so, so very badly. The worst we’ve played under Robins, probably worse than we played first game of the season. The midfield went forwards disastrously badly, and the forwards changed our dimensions of play almost not at [...]

Sheffield Wednesday Home – Match Preview

And here we go again. Wednesday with their annual visit to Oakwell, to do battle. The Football League show will run an extended feature of this game, and other networks are also sending camera crews. This game is always big, always electric, always sold out. In fairness, this would be huge even without the local [...]

Sixties Steel City Derby Games

  • A selection of programme covers from Steel City derby games during the sixties.
  • In the Utd programme for the game at Bramall Lane in February 1967 the club editiorial mentions the ‘un-relenting rivalry’ of the Blades v Owls fixture and stories of Wednesday fans who refuse to eat streaky bacon as well as “United die-hards who beat their wives if the team fails to do justice to the occasion.” Can you imagine that printed in a club programme these days!!
