Marlon King was yesterday convicted of charges of causing bodily harm to a women at a night club. The striker was sentenced to an 18 month imprisonment. Dave Whelan then released King from his contract at the club and not too soon. The striker has been some what of a drag on the clubs wages. Hardly playing for the club but still getting around £40,000 a week for sitting on the bench. He has hardly featured for Wigan since his £5 million signing which many saw as a great piece of business. But all he has done is fail to score and suck money out of the club, while increase to footballs bad image.

He has been at the club for over 12 years now, he has been the main influence in turning Wigan Athletic from Division 2(now league 1) mid-tablers to Premier League mid-tablers. Financed an awful lot for the club and built an infrastructure that many would want.

The Daily Mail say last night Everton gave up the fight to keep England defender Joleon Lescott and agreed to sell him to Manchester City for £22million. The Merseysiders had already turned down two offers of £15 and £18 Million for Lescott, Everton manager David Moyes made a defiant stand and refused to be forced into selling one of his key players by City but has had a change of heart
