Redknapp backs Crouch for World Cup call-up

Harry Redknapp has claimed that Peter Crouch should make the plane for England’s squad for the World Cup.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker has scored 20 goals in 37 games for England and despite the fact he’s currently third in the pecking order at White Hart Lane, Redknapp feels that the 29-year-old deserves to be in Fabio [...]

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone has signed a new contract until 2015.
The 23-year-old joined Spurs from Derby County in July 2005 and has made 147 appearances for the club to date.

Samir Nasri and the World Cup, “I will play anywhere for my club and I just hope it doesn’t cost me”

One of the best players for Arsenal at the moment is certainly Frenchman Samir Nasri. Despite not enjoying the same form showed against Porto on Saturday, the 22-year did incredibly well when moved into a …

Barnsley vs. Forest preview..

Hot on the heels of disappointment in Lancashire, Billy’s ailing-when-travelling boys take a trip to Yorkshire to face Barnsley to try to make amends again.  Indeed, to make recent form seem worse, we’ve got a pretty bad record in general at Oakwell.  We’ve lost on more than half the occasions we’ve played there, although last [...]

Hull City’s day-after thoughts: Another win, we’re edging closer

Salgado accuses Bale of diving

Michel Salgado has taken a swipe at Gareth Bale, accusing the Tottenham winger of diving in Blackburn’s defeat at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Bale went down in the penalty box twice in the second half of the match under challenges from Salgado and Morten Gamst Pedersen, with Howard Webb waving away both decisions, but opting [...]

Lennon doubt for remainder of the season

Aaron Lennon’s hopes of playing again this season are currently looking slim, after Harry Redknapp revealed he is unsure when the midfielder will return.
Lennon hasn’t played in 2010 after picking up a groin injury against West Ham, having suffered a number of set-backs in his recovery.
This will come as a major blow to Spurs in [...]

Redknapp sings Bale praises again

Harry Redknapp has spoken of his pleasure of Gareth Bale’s fine form, stating it’s a shame he’s already tied down to play for Wales, as he feels he’s more than good enough to play for England.
Bale produced another top class performance to help sink Blackburn on Saturday, currently filling in on the left side of [...]

Pearson declares war on Hull City midfielder’s agent

I’ve not bought a matchday programme for years, but for some reason did for the Arsenal game and found an eye-popping column from Hull City chairman Adam Pearson in it.
In an extraordinary slating, Pearson hit out at the ‘unlicensed advisor’ representing rising star Tom Cairney, saying that he ‘only has his own interests at heart.’
Youth [...]

Hull City 1 Arsenal 2

Ouch. Even writing the scoreline is like a dagger through the heart. This was not an unexpected defeat but it was a cruel one nevertheless. It leaves City essentially four points adrift from safety but hopefully with a welcome injection of confidence that has ebbed away after successive spankings at West Ham and Everton.
City reverted [...]

Jordan insists Keane will return to Tottenham

Spurs coach Joe Jordan insists there is no chance of Robbie Keane staying at Celtic.
The Republic of Ireland striker moved to Celtic on loan for the remainder of the season in January, but Jordan feels that Keane still has a major role to play at Spurs.
He told the Sunday Herald: “Without a doubt [Keane will [...]

Maxim Match Report: Spurs 3-1 Blackburn

This was just about satisfactory. Another three points won in the race for fourth, but to be honest we won this game without really getting out of 3rd gear. Big players had quiet games – Modric, Defoe, Pavlyuchenko, Kranjcar……but we had plenty enough to deal with Blackburn.
The visitors were quite bright in the first half, [...]

Tottenham Player Ratings vs Blackburn Rovers

Gomes (7) – Not much to do as in general, the goal apart, he was well protected.
Corluka (6) – It’s difficult for him without Lennon in front of him as Kranjcar wandered all over the shop. Struggled with Olsson on occasions.
Assou-Ekotto (7) – Combined well with Bale going forward. Comfortable at the back.
Dawson (7) – [...]

MF’s Report: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Blackburn Rovers

Early kick-offs on a Saturday are always strange beasts. It feels wrong to be watching football at that time. It’s as though half the day has gone missing, you’ve suffered some sort of memory lapse and despite missing out on the several hours of build up and anticipation that’s normal before a home game you [...]
